Since the launch of VCT Pacific, one team that everyone paid attention to for all the wrong reasons was Global Esports. While in the earlier seasons, the narrative behind this team was similar to being chokers, this time it looks different.

Global Esports just defeated Team Secret 2-0 and are on top of their group. This victory puts the team in a prime position to qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever in VCT Pacific. Will Global Esports make it to the playoffs? It would be especially momentous this year as Riot revamps the VCT structure in 2027.

For the first time this year, Global Esports has won two matches in a row.

During VCT Pacific Kickoff, they were alternating a win and a loss, but in VCT Pacific Stage 1 2026, they are out for vengeance.

In their first match, they caused a major upset and dismantled Gen.G 2-0. This was quite the statement victory as Global Esports defeated Gen.G for the second time this season.

During this week’s match, Global Esports shut down Team Secret with another 2-0 victory. Interestingly, both games ended 13-9, but GE used unique team compositions.

On Split, we saw them use Veto, while on Lotus, they used Deadlock. Both agents that have some of the lowest pick rates on the respective maps, but that didn’t deter a resurgent Global Esports.

Thus, this begs the question: Can GE make it to the playoffs of VCT Pacific Stage 1 for the first time in the org’s history?

The simple answer to this question is a resounding yes as things stand. Global Esports will need to win one more game to finish at least fourth in Group Alpha.

Currently, they are in first place within their group. An interesting fact about this team is that they have won more games in the ongoing VCT Pacific 2026 than they did in the entire 2025 season.

This has been the shift that fans from India and South Asia have been waiting to get behind and support this team.

In our preview of VCT Pacific Stage 1 2026, we had predicted GE to be a dark horse in the tournament to keep an eye out for. It does feel now like that prediction might just be a bit true.

In their next game, they face off against Kiwoon DRX, a team that is undefeated so far. One player we suggest everyone keep an eye on is the DRX academy graduate Kim “yong” Ho-yong. He has been quite the lightning in a bottle with his playstyle and composure.
