Heroic has taken a longer road than expected in Stage 2 of the BLAST Austin Major, but the team has the chance to advance to the final group stage with its match against Nemiga Gaming.

Heroic isn’t the sexiest team in Counter-Strike but the European squad has been generally underrated in 2025. Since its roster reboot in January, the squad has steadily grown from a tier-two regional attraction to something of a tier-one mainstay. A strong showing in a major would really cement that, but can they beat Nemiga Gaming to stay alive in Austin?

Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia and Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich have been a potent one-two punch for the team, while the rest of the team has been able to come through strong when things start going awry.

It’s been a winning formula for Heroic throughout 2025, and it’s been a winning formula in the BLAST Austin Major. The fact that the team wound up needing to fight for its tournament life is more of an indictment of Counter-Strike majors using best-of-ones than it is the team.

Nemiga is much the same, playing rock solid, straightforward Counter-Strike. Though there were questions about whether the comparatively young Nemiga would be able to play at such a big LAN tournament without getting flustered, each member has played their role well. That’s especially the case with the team’s AWPer Beksūltan “khaN” Ospan, who has been making key plays when his team needs him to come through.

Heroic, overall, is the better team so Nemiga is going to need to fire on all cylinders and then have khaN really step up for them. They’re going to be a tough out for Heroic regardless, but they’ll need a career-best performance from khaN to get into Stage 3.
