The Mongolz vs FURIA odds and betting preview – PGL Cluj-Napoca playoffs

Everybody’s favorite team – The MongolZ – are set to make their arena debut with their newest addition, Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar. However, they’ve got a serious test waiting for them in the form of FURIA. Here are our predictions for the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 match.

The Mongolz vs FURIA odds

FURIA: Hunting Back-to-Back Final Appearances

FURIA is currently looking like the second-best CS2 team in the world, right behind Team Vitality. The Brazilian squad reached the grand final at IEM Krakow 2026 just a few weeks ago, and are looking to make it two finals appearances in a row here in Cluj-Napoca.

They ended the Swiss Stage with a 3-1 record, with their only loss coming against Team Falcons. The matchup ended 2-1 in favor of the Falcons, but could have gone either way, with the decisive map ending with a 13:11 scoreline.

Along the road to the playoffs, FURIA also dropped individual maps to PARIVISION and FUT Esports, but there is nothing about those results that sets off alarm bells. If anything, that’s just classic FURIA. They are a team that might make a couple of hiccups in the group stage, but become a completely different beast in the playoffs. Overall, FURIA are in decent form and performing close to expectations.

The MongolZ: Another Prodigy Recruited?

The MongolZ have struggled to find their footing after losing arguably their best player, which is why we haven’t seen them making deep runs at big events recently. However, the team might have found a new prodigy in the form of cobrazera.

The Asian squad matched FURIA’s 3-1 Swiss record, with their only loss being handed to them by Team Vitality, which is nothing to be ashamed of. They took down B8, paiN Gaming, and NAVI to earn their post in the playoffs. However, all three series went the full distance at 2-1, and the match against NAVI in particular was very close.

As for cobrazera, the early signs are quite promising. The newest recruit is averaging a 1.15 rating so far, which makes him the highest-rated player on the team at this event. That’s very impressive for someone just stepping into Tier 1 Counter-Strike.

Still, cobrazera is very new to Tier 1 Counter-Strike, and his limited experience could be an issue for the team. He’s already tasked to face FURIA in his first big arena match, so there’s a real chance the nerves get to him. It’s hard to tell if he can replicate his group stage performance on the big stage.

Our Prediction

As if world ranking and consistency weren’t enough, more bad news stacks up for The MongolZ, as they come into this match with a veto disadvantage.

  • They have yet to play both Anubis and Overpass in the past three months.
  • Anubis is their permanent ban, which likely leaves Overpass in the pool – a map FURIA are comfortable picking into.
  • Unless The MongolZ have prepared some secret strategies, this is quite concerning.

If The MongolZ want any chance of making this matchup close, they need to put in great work on their own map pick, which we believe should be Mirage. The MongolZ took down Vitality earlier in the tournament on this very map, which is a promising sign. However, FURIA are currently 8-2 in their last 10 Mirage games, which isn’t very reassuring for MongolZ fans.

With all of this in mind, there are plenty of reasons why FURIA are likely to win this series, and a 2-0 is very much on the table. Still, many of FURIA’s map victories can be pretty scrappy, so looking at MongolZ round handicaps on individual maps could be a good angle.

Our CS2 betting picks:

  • FURIA -1.5 @ 2.10 odds
  • The MongolZ Map 1 +3.5 rounds @ 1.69 odds
