With VALORANT Champions 2025 coming to a close with championship finals being played this weekend. There have been rumors about a new agent being launched in the game on the final day of the event. Recently, we have seen hints that a new game mode was coming to the game. We now have it straight from the horse’s mouth: Riot Games has finally announced the launch of the new game mode called Skirmish.

The last time fans got to see a new game mode in VALORANT was with Swiftplay. In theory, Swiftplay was a shorter version of the unranked game mode within the game. Skrimish is currently available in VALORANT in Patch 11.07. This will be another game mode focused on casual fans. At launch, Skirmish will only be available in the Custom Game Mode tab. Currently, it hasn’t been reported whether the game mode will have a ranked ladder in the future.

In the announcement trailer, we can see players in two teams facing off against each other. Three new maps will be added to this game mode. These maps will be significantly smaller than the regular maps in VALORANT, promoting fast-paced duels. In Skirmish, players can select any agent and two or more players can also choose the same agent.

According to the trailer, we can expect each team to consist of three players, thus making it the first game mode focused on 3v3 matches. With Skirmish, players can use their agent abilities while also shooting down the enemies. It must be noted that currently, there is no news on whether agents will have infinite abilities or a shorter cooldown for each.

The goal of this new game mode is to provide fans with an additional way to play VALORANT. Instead of focusing on planting the spike, players must focus on getting kills. This game mode can be ideal for players who just want to have fun while also focusing on refining their aim.

It is worth noting that the announcement post on X mentions that VALORANT will introduce even more game modes in 2026. Recently, VALORANT also announced multiple changes for the upcoming VCT 2026 season, as well as the fact that VALORANT Champions 2026 will take place in Shanghai.
