Event favorites and teams to watch
Vitality has now been eliminated in the semifinals of three straight tournaments, putting its amazing winning streak far in the rearview mirror. Still, fans know not to completely brush off what had been the dominant CS2 team of 2025.
- Team Vitality is still the favorite to win BLAST Open Fall 2025, but only by a hair over MOUZ.
- CS2 betting sites effectively have Vitality and MOUZ even, but the record between these two teams is markedly in Vitality’s favor at 7-1.
The Counter-Strike 2 esports scene has been shaken up thoroughly since the BLAST Austin Major, but this tournament could see some things get ironed out.
Vitality
Team Vitality remains the favorite here despite not winning any of the last three tournaments it competed in. The squad still has a very good record despite this and has notched a top-four finish in each of those tournaments. While many are questioning the roster’s form, Vitality is a victim of its own success right now. Those questions likely wouldn’t be so loud if Vitality hadn’t been completely dominant earlier in the year.
MOUZ
MOUZ has been good throughout 2025 but was consistently beaten by Team Vitality at the end of tournaments. It broke that streak in the IEM Cologne semifinals, but then lost to Team Spirit to fall short of lifting a long-awaited trophy. MOUZ is on the same side of the bracket as Team Vitality, so these squads may seem destined to face off yet again.
Teams to watch
G2 Esports and Furia are interesting dark horses in this tournament that could wind up surprising fans.
- G2 added Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia from Heroic and Matúš “matys” Šimko from Fnatic this summer.
- G2 Esports pulled off a big upset over Team Spirit in the group stage, showing that its new roster could be gelling at the right time.
- Furia topped its group in the BLAST Fall Open qualifiers by beating MOUZ, and it has a clear path to taking the championship here.
The only other teams competing in this tournament are FaZe Clan and M80. M80 pulled off a few big upsets by beating Virtus.pro, NAVI, and Fnatic, but it’s hard to bet on them at this point when so little is proven. FaZe Clan cleared the qualifiers by beating ECSTATIC and NAVI, but that seems like more of an indictment of NAVI than an indication that FaZe is any better after dropping Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski.

Jaxon’s pick for BLAST Open Fall 2025 winner
Team Vitality is the best bet for winning BLAST Open Fall 2025.
Only three teams have beaten Vitality since the Austin Major: The MongolZ, MOUZ, and Team Falcons. MOUZ is the only one of those teams that is competing in BLAST Open Fall, with The MongolZ and Falcons both opting out of the event.
While MOUZ is good and has proven itself capable of beating Vitality at this point, don’t forget that this is an extremely lopsided rivalry with Vitality holding a 7-1 advantage over MOUZ. Vitality should still be looked at as the favorite in any match against MOUZ for the foreseeable future.
