Here’s how to find every legendary Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet

Legendary Pokemon are some of the most desired in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and every player should go in knowing exactly how to find and catch them.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet connect players to new and old Pokemon alike, all available to catch and add to one’s party. Each game has brand-new version exclusives to track down, original to Paldea and its surrounding lands. Whether through completing the main game, beating Tera Raids, or by going shiny hunting, there’s a Pokemon for everyone and a way to catch them.

For completionists, there are a number of legendaries both as part of the main game of Scarlet and Violet and as bonus Pokemon to spend time hunting down in the effort to catch ’em all.

Every main storyline legendary Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet

Scarlet and Violet is full of legendary Pokemon, and some can be unlocked just by following the main storyline of the game.

The box exclusive for each game, Koraidon and Miraidon respectively, are the first legendary Pokemon players will encounter in the game. The legendary Pokemon appears for the first time as the character is heading to school. Rather than having to catch it, either Miraidon or Koraidon will automatically join the team as the main mode of transportation. Players can also get a second version of their game exclusive at the very end by heading to Area Zero and defeating it in combat.

Available in Kitakami through The Teal Mask DLC, Ogerpon is another Pokemon players get as part of the game. The player catches it during the storyline. Unlike Koraidon and Miraidon, Ogerpon can join the team as a combat Pokemon immediately.

Players can also find the three antagonist Pokemon from The Teal Mask DLC after completing the main storyline in Kitakami. Munkidori, Okidogi, and Fezandipiti will all appear in the same location they were originally fought in. Once found, the player has to battle each of them again to catch them.

Terapagos unlocks at the very end of The Indigo Disk DLC. Players must go back to Paldea to the deepest point of Area Zero, which was previously inaccessible. The Indigo Disk unlocks the new region, and like most other legendaries, players will have to fight in order to catch it.

Where to find the Treasures of Ruin legendaries

While playing in Paldea, players can track down the Scarlet and Violet Treasures of Ruin legendary Pokemon by finding special shrines.

Unlike the following Pokemon, players have the chance to track down the Treasures of Ruin legendaries from the very beginning. Each are trapped within a shrine located in a different part of Paldea. The only way to find them is to pull eight different stakes for each and release them.

Because the shrines are hidden, it can be hard to find them even after tracking down all of the colored stakes. These are the shrine locations for each Treasured Ruin.

Where to find Paradox legendaries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced new legendary Paradox Pokemon after the initial campaign for players to track down, which is done with the help of Perrin.

Each game has three legendaries: Scarlet has past Paradox Legendary Beasts, while Violet has future Paradox Swords of Justice. Walking Wake from Scarlet and Iron Leaves from Violet were the first available and could only be found through Tera Raids. These were only from a limited time event, so players looking to find them will have to wait for developers to put them back in the game. After the DLCs dropped, the other two Pokemon from each game were hidden in Area Zero.

Players can unlock the two in-game legendary Paradox Pokemon by completing missions for Perrin. These involve both finding Bloodmoon Ursaluna in Kitakami and registering 200 Pokemon in the Blueberry Academy Pokedex. Once done, she can be found in the Savannah Area and will reveal the existence of the new legendaries.

Bonus legendaries found in Scarlet and Violet

Beyond the main game Pokemon, players also have the chance to catch bonus legendaries from other games in Pokemon: Scarlet and Violet by exploring the games’ DLC content.

The ability to collect legendary Pokemon from other games unlocks in The Indigo Disk DLC. After completing the main storyline, a new character named Snackworth will appear in the arena of Blueberry Academy. His purpose is to offer players snacks to find bonus legendary Pokemon scattered across Paldea.

To unlock any snacks, players will need to complete ten solo quests or one group quest through Union Circle. Scarlet and Violet both have their own legendary Pokemon pools the system will pull from in order to dole out rewards. Each game has nine solo quest exclusives and four shared, with group quests unlocking the other version’s exclusives. Fortunately, it’s possible to collect all bonus legendaries by completing 130 solo quests and 12 group quests.

As mentioned, those interested in catching the legendaries unlocked through The Indigo Disk DLC must travel back to Paldea after unlocking the respective candies. Bonus legendary Pokemon can be hard to track down, so here’s every location in which to find them:

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet both have plenty of old and new legendaries for players to spend their time tracking down. As of now, the other nonnative legendary Pokemon can only be transferred in via Pokemon Home rather than being caught in-game. However, players should always keep their eyes peeled for Tera Raids for a legendary Pokemon they may want to catch.
