Jynxzi teases League of Legends MSI co-stream after massive streamer tournament

Popular Twitch streamer Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart has announced he could be co-streaming the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). In his recent stream, the league streamer said that he was “on call” with Riot to set up co-streaming rights for the MSI, and he could go to Worlds with Dantes to do an IRL stream.

Jynxzi originally skyrocketed to fame by grinding Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The twenty-four-year-old content creator built his streaming career with his over-the-top reactions and gaming skills.

During his Twitch livestream on May 22, his chat complained about him turning up late on stream. To answer this, Jynxzi said he was late because he was “on the phone with League of Legends.”

He pulls a million views on average on his videos and has a massive audience that tunes in every time he goes live. If he and Riot agree, his streams could be a massive boost for the tournament’s broadcast.

Jynxzi has begun exploring League of Legends, going so far as to host the “Jynxzi Streamer Tournament” on May 11, which drew a staggering peak of 920,000 viewers and completely outperformed several established professional regional leagues.

The massive event, which saw Team Ray (featuring xQc) emerge victorious, completely shattered expectations by outperforming the peak viewership of the LCS, LEC, and CBLoL.

By comparison, his community-driven tournament drew 100,000 more viewers than Europe’s LEC Versus Finals and drew roughly ten times the peak audience of North America’s LCS, proving just how much pull his casual streaming circle has over traditional professional leagues.

While Jynxzi’s potential co-stream could pull a massive audience, it also highlights a shifting landscape for esports broadcasting. On one hand, prominent creators expose competitive gaming to mainstream audiences, generating massive viewership figures.

On the other hand, the practice can sometimes split localized fan engagement from the main broadcast channels. Ultimately, Jynxzi’s immediate infusion of casual viewers will undoubtedly help with overall metrics, but managing the balance between individual creator platforms and main broadcast sustainability will remain a challenge for Riot Games moving forward.
