PGL has announced its Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Tier 1 esports tournament roadmap for 2027 and 2028, with a $22 million investment over the two-year period.

The Romanian tournament operator is set to organize six events per year. It said in an announcement that the aim is to provide financial stability and a structured competitive pathway for teams.

The $11 million investment per year can be broken down into three main categories:

  • $6 million in prize money and club rewards
  • $2.2 million in VRS invite bonuses
  • $2.8 million in viewership incentives

Therefore, the allocation is designed not only to reward teams with prize money but also to encourage them to prioritize PGL’s tournaments

The prize money is also further split into two parts: $3 million is allocated to a player prize pool, with the remaining half going to organizations.

Teams can also earn additional revenue through participation incentives and viewership-based rewards. The first of this is the VRS invite bonuses. As part of this, the top-ranked team in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) will receive a participation bonus. This is applicable to the top five VRS teams accepting invitations.

The final pool consists of $2.8 million in viewership incentives. As a part of this, teams will be ranked based on the average cumulative viewership (CCV) during their matches in different events. Based on this, the competing organizations will receive points: first to fourth (8 points), fifth to eighth (4 points), and ninth to twelfth will receive two points each.

At the end of the year, the top 16 teams will receive payouts from the viewership incentives.
