PGL Wallachia Season 9: Teams, schedule, format and betting odds

The first Dota 2 tournament after The International is always fun and this one is no exception. PGL Wallachia Season 9 will welcome 16 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams on the big stage once again. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

PGL Wallachia Season 9 overview

PGL Wallachia Season 9 will be an offline tournament taking place in Bucharest, Romania. Fans can follow it from September 17 to 27, and it will include a total of 16 teams. The prize pool will be $1,000,000, and people wishing to watch the event live can do so at the PGL Studio venue in Romania’s capital.

But what will the tournament actually look like? Well, we will have a Group Stage that will consist of one modified Swiss-system group of 16 teams. They will play in best-of-three matches and the top eight will compete in the playoffs. The Playoffs are the place where we will have a double-elimination bracket with Bo3 matches and a Bo5 Grand Final.

Talents and live streams

Considering the size of the tournament and the prize pool, it’s no surprise we will see some of the biggest Dota 2 talents around. The full list became available on September 15 and includes names like Sheever, Jenkins, ODPixel, syndareN, SUNSfan and lizZard.

As for live streams, the PGL Wallachia Season 9 will be available in English, Russian, Chinese and Spanish. People can watch it on all of the popular live streaming platforms.

Strangely, PGL decided to reveal all of the participants just a couple of days prior to the beginning of the competition. We will see a total of 16 teams from different regions, all of whom received a direct invitation to the competition. Currently, the lists consist of the following:

There is an interesting mix of well-known Dota 2 squads and new teams attending their first event. As mentioned, all of them will be placed in a single group, so we can expect to see some amazing high-quality games. Keep in mind that this will be the first tournament after the Dota 2 Patch 7.41f was released.

PGL Wallachia Season 9 Betting – The Favorites

A Dota 2 tournament of this size means that a lot of people will want to bet on it. If we analyze all of the participants, we can see that a few teams stand out for esports betting:

Lastly, we have Team Yandex and it will have the task to go up against MOUZ. Normally, this would have been a very close matchup, but considering the most recent results, it’s no surprise that Yandex has odds of 1.12 to win this game.
