In the world of MLBB esports, RRQ Hoshi is a global titan. This is an organization that boasts four MPL Indonesia championships and commands viewership records that rival traditional sports, including a staggering 4.27 million peak viewers during the M4 World Championship.

Yet, a glance at the current MPL ID Season 18 standings paints a vastly different picture. Following a historically disastrous Season 17, the giant is stumbling through another punishing run, sitting near the bottom of the leaderboard with a dismal 3-9 match record.

Logically, a team that loses this often should see its audience fade. But in esports, logic often takes a backseat to legacy. RRQ is also on our list of top esports teams by viewership.

So why do fans keep watching a struggling team? It has a lot to do with the team’s history, rivalries, fan base, and comeback dreams.

RRQ Hoshi’s results remain a major concern

RRQ started MPL ID Season 18 after an abysmal MPL ID Season 17 performance. The team finished in the ninth position with a poor 2-14 match record and an even worse 8-29 game record. This has been one of the worst seasons in RRQ’s history at MPL Indonesia so far.

Season 18 has failed to bring the drastic change that fans expected.

Seven weeks in, RRQ ranks eighth with a win-loss of 3-9 and an overall match score of 10-20. The teams that have beaten RRQ include EVOS, ONIC, Bigetron, Team Liquid ID, NAVI, Alter Ego, and Dewa United. RRQ has defeated Dewa United, Geek Fam, and EVOS.

The results explain the reason for the pressure on RRQ’s shoulders. Teams with RRQ’s stature are expected to fight for the top spots, not remain in the second half of the standings.

Despite disappointing results, RRQ has shown improvement lately. The team won against EVOS on October 4 with 2:1, ending a streak of six defeats. One victory does not erase all the team’s troubles, but at least it gives additional reasons for fans to believe in their team.

So, why do fans keep watching?

The simplest reason is legacy.

RRQ Hoshi is an MPL Indonesia team that has made an indelible mark in MLBB esports. The organization has been a part of winning four MPL Indonesia championships and has created a large fan following over the years.

However, the history of RRQ is not limited to their four titles of MPL Indonesia championships. They have established an illustrious international history as well and have played on some of the most prestigious platforms of MLBB esports. As far as the M4 World Championship is concerned, the tournament had a staggering peak viewership of 4.27 million people, where the matches of RRQ Hoshi helped make the tournament one of the most-watched MLBB tournaments ever. These international feats are yet another aspect that makes RRQ such a big draw.

But there is a fact about their history that is more important than numbers: loyalty. The fans that stuck with RRQ during its glorious years will not stop supporting the team in hard times. Sometimes hard times make matches even more interesting.

The fans continue asking the same question: Can RRQ make a comeback?

Losing can make RRQ matches more interesting

There is a unique appeal to being a struggling team with massive brand recognition. Simply put, every victory feels far more valuable.

Fans expect successful teams to win, making their victories feel routine. But when RRQ wins after a long losing streak, it becomes a major event. MPL ID Season 17 provided a perfect example. At the start of Week 4, RRQ sat at a 0-7 winless record. Even though Bigetron ultimately won the series 2-1, RRQ managed to win the first match. That series alone pulled in over two million peak viewers on Esports Charts.

This proves that fans will still show up for RRQ even at their lowest point. The audience wasn’t tuning in to watch dominance; they wanted to see if the struggling giant could finally break its losing streak. Fans aren’t just wondering if RRQ will win—they are waiting to see when they will win again.

The EVOS rivalry still matters

However, the rivalry with EVOS makes RRQ’s appeal even stronger. Indeed, both clubs are some of the best-known brands in Indonesian MLBB, and each clash between them garners tremendous interest regardless of how they look now.

The match is often referred to as “El Clasico” of Mobile Legends, which is an indication of the lengthy legacy and significance of the RRQ-EVOS rivalry in MLBB in Indonesia. The two teams have been rivals since the early MPL Indonesia era, making their meetings much bigger than a normal regular-season match.

The first game in Season 18 of MPL ID was another example of this fact. EVOS won against RRQ in a 2-0 scoreline; at the same time, the match garnered an impressive peak of 1.33+ million views. Of course, it was a bitter pill to swallow for RRQ, but the interest of the spectators proved once again that it had a lot of potential.

Later, the club took its revenge with a 2-1 victory on October 4.

Fans still have reasons to hope

While RRQ is searching for its ideal lineup, the team has seen quite a few changes in the roster in the last few days. One of the most interesting changes has certainly been the signing of Faviannn, who is more than just a jungle choice.

Faviannn is an established star of the Indonesian MLBB scene with many memorable performances. He was named the MVP and Rookie of the Season during MPL ID Season 14 and reached the M6 World Championship Grand Finals with Team Liquid ID. Therefore, his transfer to RRQ in September of 2026 has become an important topic for the fans this season.

This gives fans more reasons to stay tuned.

The burning questions are: Can Faviannn bring the same level of performance to RRQ and help the struggling team return to its best form? Can RRQ players manage to work out their chemistry? What about finding the right combination of players before the end of the regular season? Or will the experience of players be enough to bring the team back into shape?

RRQ Hoshi is bigger than its current record

RRQ Hoshi’s recent performance has not been great. They have struggled for two straight seasons, and in order for them to be back at the top, they need a resurgence.

But RRQ is much more than just a win/loss record. Over the years, the team has formed its strong identity, and its fans have stayed around after wins, losses, roster changes, and tough times. Even now, RRQ remains a huge attraction. Although the team does not win that much, the fans continue to believe. Each close match or unexpected victory is a reason to have hope.
