xNova leaves Royal Never Give Up (RNG) after TI11

Royal Never Give Up (RNG) has parted ways with its support player Yap “xNova” Jian Wei after a year-long stint.

The Malaysian star took to Twitter to announce that he was currently looking for a team, signalling the end of his tenure at the legendary Chinese organization.

According to the tweet, xNova is willing to relocate to another region to further continue his professional Dota 2 career.

xNova joined RNG in November 2021 alongside former teammates Lu “Somnus” Yao and Yang “Chalice” Shenyi to form a “superteam”.

From the get-go, they were seen as one of the contenders to challenge PSG.LGD, the two-time runners-up at The International.

Coincidentally, xNova was part of the PSG.LGD roster at TI9 & TI10, where the team finished second.

RNG performed beyond expectations and eventually qualified for The International 2022. After a dominant beginning at the TI11 group stage, it seemed RNG would top the group, however, tragedy struck.

Four members, except xNova, got COVID-19 and were isolated. The deteriorating health affected RNG’s performance and they ended up having to play the dreaded best-of-one elimination round in the lower bracket of the playoffs.

RNG’s journey was over.
