G2 Esports wins the LEC once again for their 20th LEC title

G2 Esports won their 20th LEC title as they beat Movistar KOI 3-0. The LEC Summer Playoffs 2026 ended with a complete stomp. MKOI had a great showing against Karmine Corp in the lower final, but as the market predicted, the series was all G2’s.

MKOI surprised everyone by beating KC in the LEC lower final. Not just beating them, but a 3-0 when the league was run by KC and G2 alone. MKOI beat them out of nowhere, and suddenly, the final was no longer a Karmine Corp vs G2 rematch.

That victory sowed doubt among the viewers. If MKOI has what it takes to stomp KC, do they actually have a chance of taking down G2 as well?

As it turns out, absolutely not. The series was even (and slightly favoring MKOI) for roughly nine minutes, and that was all that MKOI had a fighting spirit for. Game 2 went G2’s way after exactly one minute, and game 3 was no better.

After one of the biggest series stomps in LEC history, G2 wins the final split of 2026. The team is also undefeated in playoffs all year, with a match score of 10-0 and a series score of 28-8.

G2 Esports wins their 20th LEC title since 2016

Counting both LEC splits and the LEC Season Finals, G2 now has a total of 20 European titles.

There’s no doubt that G2 is the best team in LEC history. Every now and then, Karmine Corp makes a case for being better. Or another team simply upsets them in the playoffs.

However, viewers now understand that KC is only better in the regular season and they usually put up a good fight for the playoffs, but they’re not really contesting G2. KC keeps looking promising, making everyone believe they can do it, and even getting close, but close isn’t close enough. At this point, it’s only thanks to the fact that they managed to beat G2 in Winter 2025 that people still believe in them.

The LEC champions also best represent Europe internationally. With an MSI win and a Worlds runner-up finish, G2 is an actual competitor at those events. Not counting Season 1 Worlds since the East didn’t participate, G2 has the best records in Europe.

Additionally, they’re the only European team that managed to beat a Korean opponent in a series at an international held by Riot. With three Bo5 wins against T1 and four against other Korean teams, they even have a positive record against them in the current year.
