Grand final: G2 vs MKOI, FR

The League of Legends EMEA Championship will not have the grand final that people expected. Every prediction called for a G2 Esports vs Karmine Corp rematch. Instead, the LEC grand final will have G2 Esports face off against Movistar KOI.

The last time these two teams met in the LEC playoffs, MKOI almost won. However, they had their biggest throw of 2026 as they lost game 5 from a 10k gold lead. Ever since then, they’ve looked broken as they’ve failed to replicate any of their past highs.

Until their match against KC where they won 3-0. Movistar KOI still has all the flaws that they’ve always had. They’re the best in the LEC when it comes to throwing, and competition is fierce on that front in Europe. But they’ve made it back in the grand final by restoring their strengths as well.

This is usually not enough to beat G2, as MKOI has only won one of the six playoffs matches the two teams have shared in the past two years. That said, KOI’s one win against G2 came when nobody expected it in the grand final of Spring 2025.
