The League of Legends Pro League is the main LoL tournament in China. The LPL Split 3 2026 Playoffs is the culmination of the Summer split, crowning one team as the champion of the region and sending it to the League of Legends 2026 World Championship.
In the LPL, the winner goes to Worlds. Then, the next teams are awarded Championship Points based on their placement instead of the runners-up joining them. The teams with the most points will compete in one last tournament, the Regional Finals, to grab the remaining LPL Worlds spots.
The other regions have long-lasting dynasties with names that have shined for a decade or more. In the LPL though, the bigger names are more ephemeral. The 2019 World Champion FunPlus Phoenix has disbanded, as has the MSI terror in Royal Never Give Up. EDward Gaming has been eliminated before playoffs, and Invictus Gaming has to rise from the bottom.
However, fleeting stars shine the brightest. The LPL is full of teams like Bilibili Gaming or JD Gaming that have been powerhouses on the international stage in recent years.
