Blast World Final Opening Day: Who Sets The Standard?

The Blast Premier World Final has returned once again. Here at ESB, we will provide a preview for each day ahead. We start with the opening day when we see each team in action.

On opening day, as the Group Stage phase kicks off, we see each team in action. This provides plenty of entertainment, as we see some great matchups. Along with this, we see some excellent betting opportunities. This page will give some insight into each game and provide current betting odds supplied by GG.Bet.

Opening Games 

Game One – NAVI vs Astralis 

The first game of the day gives us the current number-one ranked team in the world, NAVI. They have been having an incredibly successful year, winning title after title. NAVI are among the most exciting teams to watch, so it is only fitting that they kick us off here at the BLAST Premier World Final. Aleksib and w0nderful have been in terrific form of late and should continue here.

Astralis is known for its historical success in CS:GO, but in the second half of this year, it has struggled to find consistency in the CS2 title. It remains a competitive team, always competing in the top events throughout the year. It just needs to achieve the high finishes it used to. Currently ranked seventeenth in the world rankings, Astralis hopes to use this event to climb and show how it should be higher up.

Betting on NAVI vs Astralis 

Unsurprisingly, NAVI is the firm favourite for this series. The current odds are 1/5 compared to the Astarlis odds of 14/5 on GG.Bet. (Odds subject to change) Based on recent form and success through 2024, NAVI is the safer bet.

Game Two – FaZe vs MOUZ

FaZe up against MOUZ is one of the great matchups we get to experience on the opening day. Both successful teams will aim high for this event to prove they can still take top honours. FaZe has been consistent throughout the year, regularly finishing in the top five of their tournaments and even taking the IEM Chengdu title in 2024. They are sixth in the world rankings and will aim to improve on that and break into the top five.

For MOUZ, it has also been a consistent year with slightly more success than FaZe has experienced. There were first-place finishes in the ESL Pro League Season 19 and the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #1. More recently, they finished runners-up to NAVI in the IEM Rio. Defeat in a final always knocks a team’s confidence slightly, but making it to the final was an outstanding achievement. It is hard for any team to stop NAVI at this moment.

Betting on FaZe vs MOUZ 

There is no standout favourite for this matchup, as both teams have been performing at a similar level all year. MOUZ are slight favourites, with current odds of 10/13 on GG.Bet. Meanwhile, the odds for FaZe to win are 100/107. (Odds subject to change.) MOUZ is a few places higher in the world rankings, sitting at fourth, and their year has been slightly more successful than FaZe so far.

Game Three – G2 vs Liquid

The last time we had a BLAST event was the BLAST Fall Final. G2 won, beating the in-form NAVI to take the title. They are among the only teams to say they have beaten this NAVI team recently and are currently second in the world rankings. This shows the upturn this G2 roster has experienced, as they have been holding off Vitality to keep that number two spot. NiKo has been in terrific form, and he is one of the reasons G2 have been performing so well lately.

Liquid has had a more mixed year. Their best achievement of 2024 is finishing second in the CCT Season 1 Global Finals. Other than this, it has been a year of struggle and inconsistencies. Currently sitting ninth in the world rankings, they are the second lowest-ranked team at the event. Expectations around Liquid will not be high, but they may cause a shock result at some point. However, it is unlikely in this matchup.

Betting on G2 vs Liquid

Understandably, G2 is a favourite for this tie, with current odds of 10/23 for a G2 win on GG.Bet. They are clear favourites compared to the odds 31/20 for a Liquid win. (Odds subject to change.) A G2 win is the most likely here based on their current form.

Game Four – Vitality vs Spirit

It’s another fantastic matchup in our fourth game of the day. Vitality, the third-best-ranked team in the world, faces Spirit, who is ranked fifth. Vitality won the IEM Cologne earlier this year, but they have struggled to replicate that success. Despite the lack of titles to show for it, it has been full of consistently high-placed finishes. Vitality will be keen to cement themselves back into being considered the best team in the world, and they will need to perform here and show their worth.

Spirit has enjoyed great success throughout the year. Winning three significant titles is excellent, and it shows just how good this roster can be. They will have high hopes of rounding out the year with one more major title. However, there has been some inconsistency throughout the year, as they do not always meet expectations. The mediocre finishes show this in recent events where you would expect a team of this quality to do better.

Betting on Vitality vs Spirit

As expected, this matchup is exceptionally close regarding who the odds-on favourite is to win. Using GG.Bet, bet the team who is the slight favourite to win is Vitality, with odds of 25/32. Meanwhile, a Spirit win has odds of 10/11. (Odds subject to change.) The final game of the day is the closest one regarding quality between the teams, and it is tough to predict who could win.
