As the RES Regional Champions event returns. At ESB, we will do a RES Championship preview of the first scheduled games and how we expect the tournament to play out. This means discussing the latest CS:GO news.
The tournament’s prize pool is $250,000, and the winner will take home $150,000. It is a financially lucrative tournament, especially for teams not currently competing on the big stages. This page will discuss the format and give each team insight regarding the form and the latest CS2 news.
The format comprises two stages: the group stage and the playoff stage. The tournament kicks off on October 16th and runs until the 19th. Below is a brief overview of each stage.
The format is simple, as the tournament is small and only runs for three days.
Eight teams are competing, and in this RES Championship preview, we will examine the latest CS:GO news for each team.
The first team we will examine is the Brazilian team Fluxo. Throughout the year, they have been performing well in their region. They have won three titles this year to date. These wins were in B-Tier tournaments, as that is the standard of their region. This is an A-Tier tournament, so it may be a step too far for them to win. They recently competed in the ESL Challenger League Season 48: South America. They had been performing consistently throughout it until recently when they seemed to drop off. Fluxo is still the highest-ranked team in this tournament (23rd), so expectations will remain high.
Next, we will look at the Serbian outfit Aurora Gaming. So far in 2024, Aurora has competed well in other A-Tier events, winning the Skyesports Masters. It was followed by placing high in the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne and the Skyesports Championship. They come into this with mixed form, having won two of their last four games.
Looking at our third team, we will discuss Sangal Esports. The Turkish organisation has had a successful 2024. Four titles in B-Tier events set them up well to compete here. This team was also invited to the ESL Pro League Season 20. They outperformed the teams similar to them in quality and achieved a well-deserved 17th-20th place finish.
The fourth team we look at here is the Belarusian organisation Nemiga Gaming. Once again, another team has performed consistently well within its region in the B-Tier events. They recently competed in the ESL Challenger Katowice Qualifiers but eventually lost 2-1 to SAW.
We will examine the next team, another organisation from Brazil, which means Solid will know Fluxo very well. They are currently a mid-table team in the region and are some way off the quality shown by Fluxo. They must rely on their previous knowledge to gain an edge over their competitors.
Another representative from the EU is coming out of Russia. It has not been a great year for Parivision, and its results have been disappointing. The team’s best place finish so far is second in the CCT Season 2 European Series #7, which they lost to fellow competitor Sangal. Besides, it has been primarily low finishes with no natural standout performances.
We have another team from the EU, Fnatic, a British esports organisation. Fnatic has a great history in Counter-Strike games, but in recent years, they have struggled to maintain the standards of the past. This year, they won two B-Tier titles, when they used to compete regularly in S-Tier events. Fnatic will find it hard with some high-quality teams around this event.
Let’s discuss the final team. Here is some CS2 news for you: The organisation known as Bleed Esports is competing at this event but under the name Unpaid. This is a nod to the roster’s ongoing dispute with the organisation. The disagreement coincides with some poor performances, as Bleed has not had a good year. They have underperformed in B and C-tier events.
The first round of group-stage games has provided some great matchups. Let’s examine them and see who the odds-on favourite is to win each game.
Coming into game one, Aurora is a firm favourite. Looking at the odds on GG.Bet: Aurora has odds of 25/47 to win. Meanwhile, a Fluxo win is at 127/100. (Odds subject to change.) Despite Fluxo being a higher-ranked team, they are not the favourite to win this matchup. Aurora tends to compete at a higher level and should have the roster quality to win a Bo3.
Sangal is the favourite coming into this tie. This is a reflection of how they have performed better throughout the year. They have current odds of 5/9 on GG.Bet, whilst the odds for a Nemiga win are 127/100. (Odds subject to change.) Sangal has performed well this year, making it to the ESL Pro League and performing better than most expected.
This game provides the most considerable imbalance in terms of quality. Parivision is the overwhelming favourite for this match—the current odds on GG.Bet for a Parivision win is 1/10. Following this, the odds for a Solid win are 9/2. (Odds subject to change.) This will not be new news, CS:GO fans. This is one of the most one-sided ties we will likely see at this event.
As expected, Fnatic is a firm favourite for this matchup. They have current odds of 5/13 to take the win. The odds for an Unpaid win are 17/10. (Odds subject to change.) Fnatic is one of the top-quality teams at this event, and if they play to the level this roster is capable of, they could very well win the event.
Although it is a smaller-scale tournament, the RES Regional Championship will be full of entertainment and great games between these teams. For any news CS:GO you want to stay up to date with, be sure to check our page regularly for updates. We also have further CS2 betting advice on our page here.
