Dota DPC League WEU Tour 2 Starts Soon!

Western Europe is probably the most anticipated region in Dota 2—and with good reason. It’s where teams like OG, Team Secret, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and Nigma Galaxy duke it out to see who can win the most DPC points and get invited to Dota 2’s flagship annual event: The International.

Once again, these elite teams will face each other in the upcoming DreamLeague Season 17, a single round-robin tournament with $205,000 and 920 circuit points to be distributed to the top performers. The event will start on March 14, and if you want to get started betting on Dota 2, now’s the time. Who’s going to triumph this time around?

Dota 2 DPC League Favorites in One Basket

DPC WEU is packed, and it’s pretty much impossible to say which team will shine the brightest. They’re all trying to prove something and have proven something in the past. This region is basically on steroids. That being said, we can look at what recent history has to tell us and form our best conclusions from there. So, what does recent history tell us?

DreamLeague Season 16 is a great place to start since it’s the first big event that immediately followed TI 10. In this event, Team Liquid popped off and finished with a stellar 6-1, and they were handicapped back then due to roster changes. If you can remember, Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen joined the team and Tommy “Taiga” Le left for OG.

Then there’s Team Tickles, an underdog that surprised everyone so hard they got signed by a completely new organization: Gladiators. We’re very hyped with this team, and we couldn’t wait how they’re going to continue to play with the big boys in the upcoming Dota DPC League. Did they just get lucky? Or will they prove their strength by adapting well to the patch? Make sure to grab the best bargain odds at Betway eSports as soon as they’re out!

Meanwhile, Tundra Esports went the distance and reached the grand final of GAMERS GALAXY a short while ago. They scored 3-1 during the group stage, and they never faltered since, beating BOOM Esports and Nigma Galaxy to make it to the finale. Before that, they even defeated the seemingly unstoppable Team Spirit in a best of one. BOOM Esports then got their revenge in the finals.

Of course, we can’t forget about the rest either. OG, Team Secret, and Nigma Galaxy may have finished with 4-3 on DreamLeague Season 16, but we’re sure they will all have their days in the spotlight before TI 11 arrives. OG is under the tutelage of 2-time TI winner Johan “n0tail” Sundstein and company. And Nigma Galaxy? The team whose members have been winning and losing side by side for more than 3 years and holds the record for the most LAN matches played together in Dota history is showing stronger bonds than ever. Team Secret will remain to be that one boss you have to fight before you can consider yourself worthy.

The Underdogs and Outside Bets

Entity and Brame from the previous Dota DPC League Tour 1: Division 2 are the only legitimate underdogs in this tournament. So far, both of these teams have only existed at the outer layers of the Dota 2 pro scene, taking on unpopular challengers at B-tier and C-tier events. Now, they’ve pushed their way to the top and are ready to swim with the sharks. Will they finally get their biggest breakthrough? Watch for their odds at Bet365 eSports to catch the move!

On November 23 last year, Entity signed the entire roster of Creepwave, a short-lived organization created in January 2021 to compete for DPC. Throughout the year, the team has had fragmented roster changes. At one point, the team housed Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, now a member of OG. The final roster included Remco “Crystallis” Arets, Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau, Tobias “Tobi” Buchner, Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov, and Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk. All have decent achievements in the past, including having reached the 11k MMR threshold.

For Brame, it’s tough to say as they’ve had a pretty big roster change just this February 18, where 3 of their members at positions 1, 2, and 4 were replaced. We’re yet to see how this latest lineup will perform or if they can even top what their previous role-owners have achieved at the first tour of the Dota DPC League season.

Our Dota DPC League WEU Tour 2 Conclusion

Bottom line: it’s chaos. Even though recent history favors teams like Team Liquid and Tundra Esports,  it doesn’t guarantee anything at all. This is mostly because we understand full well what the rest is capable of achieving. Most of the time “capable” is synonymous with “TI qualifier” if not “TI champion”.

On top of that, the newest patch will also alter the playing field. The teams who fail to form strategies and counter emerging ones will bite the dust before long. Underdogs are more prone to this as they don’t have the same fermented experience that older teams have. Still, newer teams challenge the status quo all the time, and whenever they do, they make big money for those who believe.
