Rekkles is leaving T1, here’s what’s next for him

Just weeks after being part of the team to win Worlds 2024, Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson has announced that he’s leaving T1.

Rekkles first joined T1 back in 2023 as part of its Esports Academy team. He then continued on to play substitute at Worlds 2o24, where T1 claimed its fifth World Championship title. However, it seems that even the high of winning wasn’t enough to convince Rekkles to stay in Korea. After his year on the T1 roster, the Swedish LoL player has made the decision to go his own way.

Here’s why Rekkles is leaving T1 and what the future holds for him.

Rekkles leaves T1 after Worlds win

Despite his positive experience with T1, Rekkles will be returning home to Sweden rather than continuing with the Korean Worlds champion.

In an X post, Rekkles announced to his fans that he wouldn’t be returning to compete with T1 for the 2025 season. He added that he had initially been planning taking a break from the competitive League scene due to a number of personal reasons. These included a recent autism diagnosis, family accident, and other difficulties. However, Rekkles knew that he would regret not taking the chance to play with T1 and pushed through.

“I will always be grateful for my time with T1, not just for the experience but for how it has helped me grow as a player and a person,” Rekkles said in his post. He also thanked his teammates and added that it was an honor to wear the T1 badge.

Is Rekkles retiring from competitive League?

Rekkles confirmed that he’s not retiring from competitive League, and he has already received an offer from another team.

Said new LoL team has yet to be named. Rekkles has stated, however, that it was one that allowed him to remain in Sweden. In the past, Rekkles has played for the Swedish-based Fnatic and the more generally European-based G2 Esports. A return to one of those teams, then, wouldn’t be unlikely. The League player could also be considering a switch back from support to bot lane, given that it was the decision to change that led to his most recent split with Fnatic.

Rekkles hopes to use the time at home to take a “recall,” or refresh his skills and recover. No matter what team he ends up with, they’re lucky to have a dedicated player for the 2025 League season.
