Super Bowl LVI: The Battle of the QBs

The NFL regular season and playoffs has seen some crazy twists and turns but one of the more unlikely stories has been the rise of the Cincinnati Bengals against all odds. This has been led, for the most part, by their outstanding quarterback Joe Burrows, a serious contender for MVP for the season.

But there are a few players who have a good chance of standing in his way, and one of those is the LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Super Bowl quarterbacks are always of a particular quality but it’s rare we see a battle like this.

One man leading his team and another riding the momentum of fantastic wins over the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But who’s going to emerge as the MVP for the 2022 Superbowl on Sunday? It’s bound to be one of them. The Bengals vs the Rams has the potential to be a real classic.

Joe Burrow’s Rise to the Limelight

What a season it’s been for Joe Burrow. Just two seasons into his professional playing career, the draft afterthought from LSU is absolutely the story of the season. Arguably the most popular player amongst neutral (and Cincinnati!) fans this season, Joe Burrow cannot be praised enough.

He led the entire league in the regular season with passing completion percentage, coming in at a cool 70.4%. He also led the league in average completed passes per game at 8.9%, some truly impressive stats! Unfortunately, another stat that doesn’t favor Joe Burrow quite as much is that he was the most sacked player of the season with a total of 51 in the regular season… but we won’t be thinking about that too much when the Super Bowl kicks off.

So do you fancy Joe Burrow for Super Bowl MVP? A good choice, we feel. You’ll just need to find the best betting odds for football in the first place. Right now, Bet365 has Joe Burrow at 9/4, the second favorite.

A look at Matthew Stafford’s season

As excellent and lovable as Joe Burrow is, there is one serious contender to take the Super Bowl MVP title away from him, and it’s his direct opposition. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been in fine, fine form throughout the entire regular season and playoffs and you already know he’s going to step it up an extra level for the final.

Matthew Stafford joined the Rams after several years with the Detroit Lions and has had the season of his life, instantly becoming a fan favorite and probably due to stay that way for quite a few more seasons. Unfortunately, however, he was the most intercepted passer of the ball in the regular season…

If you’re looking for a great place to put a bet on Matthew Stafford to be the MVP for the Super Bowl (or even for the full season if you really want to go all out), a great place to do that would be Bet365. Players in New Jersey can get $200 in free bets when they sign up and place their first bet of just $1. You could use that money for your Super Bowl betting!

He’s actually the bookies’ favorite right now for the Super Bowl MVP, coming in at 1/1 at Bet365. They might have a hard time explaining that to Bengals fans though…

Other contenders for the Super Bowl MVP

This year has seen some crazy action and there are a few other players in both teams who have an outside chance of winning the prestigious award. Bet365 lists the third favorite as Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Other than maybe San Francisco 49ers’ Deebo Samuel, Kupp has been the best wide receiver in the league this season and his MVP odds are 6/1

It’d also be rude not to mention the Rams’ defensive tackle, Aaron Donald, as someone with a shot at winning. Considering that he will have his work cut out against Joe Burrow, he really has the chance to prove just how good he is. Not that he needs to: he’s been doing it all season. If you fancy a Rams defender for Super Bowl MVP, you can get Aaron Donald at 14/1.

Final thoughts on the Super Bowl battle of the QBs

Realistically, it’s highly likely that one of the quarterbacks is about to win the Super Bowl MVP but it’s not definite. If it does happen, the real question is which player? While the Rams are just about favorites to win the game itself, it’s very close odds-wise and the game really could go either way.

A very exciting Super Bowl is upon us and we can’t wait to tune in this Sunday. Good luck with your MVP bets and enjoy the match!
