This is the first chance for a team to advance to the Swiss Stage from the Play-Ins Stage. Four teams will advance, one of which will be MAD or PSG.
With both teams winning their first game, they now have their first chance of advancing. Here, we will examine their previous game and how they have set themselves up for success.
The majority expected MAD to win in the opening game of Play-Ins. It should be no surprise that they won the series comfortably 2-0. Their overall quality was simply too good for VKE. They were able to control games and close them out without much threat. Credit goes to VKE, as they showed fight and determination. There were weaknesses in MAD’s game.
Previously, we mentioned how vital Elyoya is to this team and how Myrwns’ champion pool can turn a game upside down. Elyoya had two fantastic games on the Nidalee, significantly contributing to this series’ success. We all look forward to a MAD draft, as they are often littered with off-meta or exotic picks. MAD did more of a regular team comp in this series, so we did not see Myrwn causing chaos. We also saw ADC Supa hard-carrying, so he is one to watch coming into this series.
They won their opening game 2-1 against PNG. However, the series was not smooth, with PSG losing the first match and putting all the pressure on themselves to have two must-win matches. Repeating that in this series could be fatal, with the opposition being of higher quality. PSG must start this series well to achieve a positive result.
Mid-Laner Maple will be pivotal to PSG here. His Akali in matches two and three against PNG significantly influenced PSG’s win. His standout performances will not have gone unnoticed, and there is a chance Akali will be taken away from him. MAD will try to limit his influence on this series, so the team must play around this. They can protect him or focus on other members while MAD commits resources to containing Maple. Top Laner Azhi could be someone to step up. It will be a hard lane for him to go up against Myrwn, but as he showed against PNG, he can dominate a lane.
At present, MAD is a slight favourite in winning this series. The current odds are [affiliate-link postid=301]25/33 on GG.Bet[affiliate-link] to win the match, whereas PSG has odds of 100/103. (Odds subject to change). As you can see, it is predicted to be a close game, with neither team being an outright favourite.
With the reward of advancement on the line, you would expect MAD to handle the pressure better. Their regional league is typically more competitive, and they have been in high-pressure situations multiple times in 2024. This might give them a mental edge over PSG.
